    I normally do not review books I have read since most of them have already been out for a while. But I was captured by the author's familiarity with Lake Tahoe and the region. It was not until I had finished reading the book and I read where the author lived in the Lake Tahoe area! I always loved the Lake Tahoe area and look back often on a log home purchase that would have kept me in the area. The home was at the foot of the Heavenly Valley ski lift run. The property was later purchased by a hotel chain. So I was able to reminisce about my life in Lake Tahoe through this author. Now to purchase more of his works!

    The main character in these books isn't always the brightest nor the cleverest but he is a guy with an interest in everything around him and a flair for appreciating what comes his way. Above all is the sheer absurdity, exiting pace, and a well-trained giant dog that I just can't look away from.

    I couldn't put it down. The action and the mystery was well written with ingenious use of artistic knowledge thrown in for interesting color.

    I had high hopes for this book. It looked good until Gramma's crazy rant about Darwin, then the plot got unbelievable and I started skimming.
